ANDY WARHOL is a sloppy book, marred by typographical errors, omissions, generalizations, and at least one embarrassingly irrelevant tangent, having to do with Wittgenstein’s “language game,” the questionable inclusion of which Danto explains by andu that its resonance with certain of Warhol’s artistic practices at the Silver Factory “came to me in a dream while writing this book, and for better or worse I could not resist including the comparison here.

Ah another book on Warhol. The author suggests that anything can be zrthur, but only if an artist intends it to be so. Danto is very clear about his sources and what is his opinion or not. This is a very short book I love art but am not in love with biographies of artists. My total failure at doing so gave me a much healthier appreciation for pop artists, particularly Warhol. I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody.

Andy Warhol Arthur C. He is also the art critic for The Nation and an editor for the Journal of Philosophy. Critics often refer to Andy Warhol as the dantl artist of the second half of the 20th century, but Danto is the only author I am aware of who has defined this statement directly and methodically.
